Criteria: stance, mechanics, contact

BP speed pitches thrown by BJSA Coaches

10 pitches – grading on contact

*10 points max
 

Infield

Criteria: footwork, glove work, accuracy of throw, strength of throw – both the fielding and throwing is graded during this drill

5 ground balls at short stop

Throw to first base

*10 points max, 5 for fielding and 5 for throwing

*Accuracy of throw is considered to be one the 1B can catch with reasonable effort, nothing in the dirt, or anything the 1B has to stretch for

Hitting for Power

Criteria: mechanics, bat speed, power

BP speed pitches thrown by BJSA Coaches

10 pitches – grading on power, i.e. line drives, hits to the outfield

*10 points max
 

Running

Criteria:  speed

Timed runs

H =>1B

1B =>3B

H =>H
 

Outfield

Criteria: footwork, glove work, ability to track the ball, accuracy of throw, strength of throw

5 fly balls to left outfield

4 throw’s to second base

1 throw to Home

* 10 points max, 5 for catching and 5 for throwing

*Caught cleanly is considered to be a ball caught in a good athletic position, two hands and quick transition to a throwing position

Pitching

Criteria: mechanics, velocity, accuracy

10 pitches thrown from proper distance

Pitches in the zone are counted, pitches outside the zone or with little to no velocity are not.

*10 points max, all pitches in the zone with velocity
